Trend of the Year - 2009

Popsugar reported today that the trend of the year was Leggings and I must say I completely agree!

They said, "Leggings have been around for a while, but in 2009, they made a mad comeback. Face it: everywhere you turned, limbs were dolled up in leggings. Some basic, a few crazy, many cropped, lots of long. Jeggins even had their own cult following and outshone regular denim. Catwalks, streets, malls, and boutiques all embraced the comfy chic trend. Long live the legging!

I've considered selling the new Free People Jegging coming out early spring....but will you pay $68 for a pair?

Fun after Stocked Market

Until this weekend I had never been to Roanoke, VA. I must say it's a great town and not nearly as small as I thought it was, the mountains are beautiful and while I hear there isn't a lot of shopping it seems there is an endless supply of great restaurants. We got to try out two different ones, Alejandro's on Friday night and Blue 5 and 202 on Saturday night. I'm so glad Louise was there to help me again....I couldn't do it without her. Dana came up on Saturday making this show more fun than the rest, I just love a little girl time! I had fun ladies, can't wait to do it again!

Host a Clothes Hound Shopping Party

You can shop online, at a mall or a big-box store. But in the middle of the crazy holiday shopping seas, beat the crowds by bringing the store to you. All you need is a party plan and some friends!

Shopping can be a relaxing activity when done right. Shopping parties are no longer about tupperware. Fashion can come to you. Why not make some money or earn free goods while you shop? We bring everything you need right to the comfort of your home or spot of your choice.

Here are a few tips to hosting your shopping party:
1. Call or email me to book a date for your shopping party

2. Inquire about hostess incentives. I will give you 10% of net sales; or give you a credit in that amount towards your purchases.

3. Figure out how many guests you need to invite. We like to have about 20 people at each party, however I will do parties with less people if you have friends who LOVE to shop

4. Determine where to host the party. Find out if your local hair salon will host it. Check out the party room in your condo building, or even your own house.
5. Determine whether or not you'll serve food. Most hosts recommend wine and cheese. It involves less hassle. If this does not meet the dietary requirements of the guests, then choose something that works.

The key is a successful shopping party is attendees. A great mix of fabulous shoppers/friends makes for a fun-filled shopping event. Nothing beats personal attention - a whole shopping event that caters to you and your crew.

Another way to increase your incentives - Check to see if your office/church/other entity is interested in hosting a shopping party. The more the merrier. Shopping parties are also a great ideas for bachelorette parties, bridal/wedding showers and other events.
Arrange a time, sit back, relax, and enjoy a cozy, intimate and personalized shopping event.

1 Week of Rest

Sorry I haven't been updating the blog too much lately but my schedule has been crazy. A shopping spree which ran Wed. - Sun. has just come to an end and it was a great show but really exhausting! I got lots of new things in for the show and sold out of almost all of them immediately! I have some other great things by Ryu and French Connection coming in this week! I think I may finally get the coveted Red/Leopard Karlie Dress as well! My next show is next week, it's the Hollyday Fair in Fayetteville, I've heard good things about this show and hope it's as good as they promise!

Time for Shopping Spree

Wow last week was a whirl wind! I was in Baton Rouge all week for Hollydays which went pretty well except for getting a virus and missing one day of the show! It's not fun to be sick away from home! The 13 hour drive wasn't too fun either but I did get to enjoy some authentic Louisiana food before starting my 2 day puke fest. sorry. It's interesting to see the styles of different cities, all I can say is Louisiana is definitely the neighboring state of Texas. I saw so many cowboy boots and rhinestones! The bigger the hair the closer to God. Everyone was super sweet though!

Shopping Spree in Raleigh starts tomorrow which I am definitely looking forward to! Last year's show was a huge success and I'm glad to be sleeping in my own bed! If your in Raleigh or close by you should come to the event which is the 21-25.

I just got in some great Big Buddha Bags, like the Mia bag in the picture above and some fabulous new dresses as well!

Hollydays Baton Rouge

I finished up Martha's Market in Charlottesville on Sunday and headed down to Baton Rouge with my husbands cousin Louise on Monday. We stayed in Montgomery Monday night and arrived in Baton Rouge Tuesday afternoon. We haven't see a lot of BR yet but what we have seen has been great! We ate at Parrains last night, trying some authentic Cajun food, so yummy! We are going to drive by LSU today and do a little more exploring! The Hollydays show starts tonight and runs through Saturday and then we'll be making the trip back to NC on Sunday!

Thursday, October 8, 2009

We are in Charlottesville

We arrived in Charlottesville around noon and were greeted by super nice workers from Martha's Market. They helped us unload everything and provided free lunch for all the vendors, yipee. Did I mention I am renting a cargo van for the next two weeks so I can fit all of my Clothes Hound goods inside? I love the Van but b/c I have it I brought more than normal and have tons of stuff! My mom is helping me with this show, she's a great free worker which you can't beat! We've already decided we have a stalker at our hotel who we know snuck in our room so we are staying somewhere else the next 2 nights. Charlottesville is gorgeous but of course I picked the one hotel that seems like it's not in the best part of town. It's always an interesting trip with me!

Weekend Update

After the 3 day Shecky's show in Philadelphia my girlfriend Allison hosted a Clothes Hound party on Friday night. The party was a blast, the girls picked out what they liked and then tried it all on for one another like a mini-fashion show. After a few bottles of wine were emptied the girls paid up before leaving with their new duds around 12am.
I've recently received several new shipments of fall merchandise and there is some really great stuff so be sure to check out the site!

Fun in Philly

Another Shecky's show has come to an end and I am completely exhausted! I drove up to Philly form NC on Tuesday morning leaving at 6am and arriving about 1pm. Luckily I was greeted by my bestie Allison who helped me unload and set up for the show, not to mention she helped me work it every night! The show was Tues, Wed, and Thurs night from 5-10. There was some great shopping to be done and lots of alcohol to go around! We were stationed next to the Cupcake ladies which worked out really well for me. =) We packed up last night and headed back to Allison's house around midnight. Now that Shecky's is over I'm looking forward to the Clothes Hound Party Allison is hosting tonight, should be a blast!

NC State Won!

I'm really excited for two reasons... NC State won against Pitt today and we got the husbands to use our Clothes Hound/Lauren Skye Koozies at the game. Don't they look cute with their cute pink can huggers? These are koozies Jessica and I had made for the Fashion Show in Charlotte last weekend. There are two sides one with my company info and one with hers, I think they were a big hit and turned out super cute. We'll also be use these at an upcoming joint party some of our friends are hosting.

I hope everyone is having a fabulous weekend!!!

Thanks KKG!!!

I just got back from my party at the USC Kappa Kappa Gamma House. I had a great time as always, they really are a great group of girls! I also enjoyed catching up with my cousin Leslie pictured above. The French Connection Wizard dresses were a great seller. The gamecocks colors are Black and Burgundy so of course the red and black stuff sold well. They just celebrated a great victory against Ole Miss and love to dress up for games. Let's hope NC State can put up a win tomorrow! Thanks again KKG girls, have a great school year and hopefully I'll see you again in the spring!

Local Macy's Event

Macy's at Crabtree Valley Mall will have a Style & Co. shopping party Saturday with style experts in the store to share style tips and show how to transition wardrobe pieces, particularly with the Style & Co. brand.
.
Shoppers will get a gift with any Style & Co. purchase of $30 or more, while supplies last. Customers also will get a shot at winning a $250 electronic gift certificate.
The event is from 1-4 p.m.

This event could actually be a lot of fun and the tips they give on transitioning your wardrobe could be used with any brand not just Style & Co. I'm finding my Karlie Leggings are helping me in transitioning dresses and t-shirts into more suitable fall wear. They were a huge hit at the Fashion show on Friday and for only $27 you can't afford not to get a pair!

A Day in the Life of a Model

I know modeling doesn't look like a hard job and they get paid tons of money. Must be nice to be so beautiful that you get paid for the way you look. Of course I wish my legs were a mile long and that I could lose that last 5 lbs (which will probably be the last 25lbs after this baby arrives). But I am glad I can eat a cheeseburger if I want or a deliciously huge blueberry muffin with one million carbs and fat grams.

Anyway my N&O eblast yesterday included a story on Models and a new website your sure to love. "Everything you've ever wanted to know about models (including when they change their hairstyles!) and modeling are part of this blog, modelinia.com. The Web site's all over Fashion Week, of course, and you can even find out what your favorite model (Lily, Chanel, Erin, Coco ...) is wearing after the shows. There's also a video on how to walk in high heels, in case your looking to make a career change, and a slideshow of model runway mishaps."

Let me know what you think....are you auditioning to be ANTM?

Local Shout Out

Raleigh Denim is a local company that creates amazing jeans! They are currently be carried at Barney's and a couple of smaller boutique stores. Raleigh Denim was created by a husband and wife team who actually met back in high school. The line was first called Verses and is now Raleigh Denim. North Carolina has a rich textile history and NC State is one of the best textile schools (i started my bachelors there). Everything they use is from North Carolina—the thread, the denim, the zippers, the labels. They do everything in the studio—sewing, washing. They say the most sustainable and enjoyable way to do anything is to do it where you are, around people you like, which is why they have stayed in Raleigh.

They retail for around $250...maybe if they decide to make a less pricey line we'll start carrying it. =) By the way most jeans are made in 12 minutes each pair of jeans they make takes 5 hours b/c they do everything themselves. I guess it's understandable that they cost more.

Fall is here

Although it may not feel like fall yet depending on where you live many things indicate it's definitely here! Fall awards shows (VMA's), the season premier of Oprah today and new Fall television starts next week which means Fall is upon us.

I hope you didn't miss the VMA's, but even if you did you know MTV will have it on a million more times, DVR it later. I have to say Kanye West is a douche bag but on to more pleasant things such as the Fashion at the VMA's. Dresses were short and long but many had metallic hues including both silver and gold. I loved the look of these ladies. Here is a quick over view, Olivia Palermo in a shoulder-cutout LBD, Kristin Cavallari in a strapless sequined minidress, Beyonce in a sassy LRD, Whitney Port in a sheer Christopher Kane, and Leighton Meester in her sequin Christian Cota. All five ladies turned up the volume at last nights event. Who was your favorite?

Fashion Show

I just spent the afternoon with Jessica which was lovely. Beyond making me a delicious lunch we planned out the order, play list and all the details of our upcoming show in Charlotte on Friday night. We have 6 models and 18 outfits to showcase. These Charlotte girls are in for a real treat! Jessica owns an online boutique and we feel our stores really compliment one another. We have done 1 other fashion show together and are always bouncing ideas off each other. Stay tuned for pictures from the show!

Dress by Theme

While at Market I stopped by the Lisa Adams showroom, called Therapy and shopping therapy it was! I came across a new designer by the name of Theme out of LA and loved their little line of sweet and sassy dresses. I purchased the dress to the right which will retail for less than $75! Hints of skin peaking through sheer fabric is really big this fall. See you can be sexy without showing too much! This dress can be worn to work, holiday parties and out to dinner just add the right shoes and accessories.

Charleston Fun

I ran into my two friends Dana and Dana and a group of their friends while in Charleston! Funny we were 4 hours from home but ended up seeing several people we knew. The Dana's were there for a bachelorette party which got me thinking about the ones I've been to. Even been to one in Charleston a few years back. Of course it's fun to get all the girls together, dress up, drink too much and stay out too late but why oh why must we be made to wear hideous outfits and carry around penis paraphernalia? I obviously enjoy dressing up and will think about an outfit for such an occasion months in advance. Unfortunately only weeks in advance you receive an email saying we must all wear black b/c the bachelorette will be in white or some such nonsense. #1 I hate dressing like everyone else, I want to stand out. #2 aren't we too old to all be dressing a like, our group normally gets enough attention without doing that. #3 We don't all have the same taste, you make like airbrushed T-shirts, I do not =) I know it's all in fun and it's not about me that weekend it's about the bride but I swear the torture seems to start earlier and earlier these days. Before all the bridesmaids had to wear a hideous dress and all look the same on the wedding day now it's starts with the bachelorette party. Brides to be I beg you not to make your friends dis their sense of style for your bachelorette party!

C. Luce

I hope everyone had an amazing Labor Day Weekend! Me and my hubby went to Charleston where we met up with my mom and step-dad. We had a fabulous time doing a lot of touristy things, needless to say we walked a lot and my feet hurt about 1/2 the time, of course I would never wear sneakers unless I was working out so I guess I can't complain.

With Labor Day behind us new fall fashions will continue to roll in. To the right is a small sample of a new line we bought from, C. Luce. We got these two super cute dresses along with an adorable purple coat and beautiful grey wrap sweater. All of these items will retail under $70!!!! I'm positive these items will sell out quickly!

NC State Kickoff Game

NC State Game
NC State Game by bbatts featuring Dorothy Perkins

NC State kicks off the football season tonight and I can't wait!!! I was so proud of myself for pulling together an outfit that actually works and fits (since I'm 14 weeks pregnant that's tricky). Tonight's game should be an exciting one against South Carolina! Although I can't drink the duff beer above I have my O'douls ready! Football is so big in the south and you have to dress the part, I'll be wearing my new Karlie scarf and Black Slouchy boots by Matisse.

I am in LOVE with this new dress by Karlie!!! I think it's so super cute for fall and can be worn for the holiday's too. For such a versatile dress the price is unbeatable, at only $86! This beautiful ruffle dress by Karlie is a wonderful addition to any wardrobe. With its ruffled neckline and flattering silhouette, it is perfect for any body type. Pair this with earrings and heels and you'll be ready for any occasion.

3 New Dress all for $55

So I just got in 3 new lovely dresses, one of which I have already worn. =) The black strapless denim dress to the right seems to be a fan favorite already, I'm taking one to my girlfriend this weekend (we are visiting them in the mountains of NC) so she can try it on hopefully buy it. Also Kristen my blogger friend I previously mentioned said she just may have to order it!
The other two dresses are super cute and can be worn to work or out at night! They come in Purple and Grey and are also $55. Can't beat that! I noticed Express has a denim tube dress right now for close to $70 and it's not nearly as cute as the one I'm selling. =)
